Port Huron, Mich. — Freshman golfer Jack Higgins has qualified for the NJCAA Division II Golf National Championship, earning his spot after a dramatic finish at the NJCAA Region 12 Championship held at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Higgins posted a three-round total of 224 with scores of 73, 76, and 75, showcasing consistency and poise throughout the tournament. After 54 holes, Higgins finished tied for second place, with the final qualifying position for the national championship on the line.
The title of runner-up — and the coveted national berth — was decided in a one-hole playoff, where Higgins rose to the moment, securing victory to clinch his place in the field and officially punching his ticket to nationals.
As a result of the playoff win, Higgins finished as the Region 12 Championship runner-up and will advance to compete on the national stage.
The NJCAA Division II Golf National Championship will be held May 19–22 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana, where Higgins will compete against the top golfers from across the country.
Higgins' qualification marks a significant achievement in his freshman season and highlights his ability to perform under pressure against elite regional competition.
