Skippers Belt Two Home Runs, Take Down Muskegon 14-4

Muskegon, Mich. — St. Clair County Community College baseball earned a dominant 14–4 victory on the road Tuesday night at Muskegon Community College, moving to 6–6 overall. The Skippers' offense erupted for 14 runs on 14 hits, highlighted by multi-hit performances throughout the lineup and a relentless early scoring push.

SC4 wasted no time setting the tone, plating three runs in the top of the first and adding another one in the second before Muskegon was even able to think about scoring. The Jayhawks would knot it up with a two run fifth and one run sixth inning. After that, the Skippers went on to score in each of the following three innings while holding Muskegon CC to just one more run to end the game in eight innings.

Freshman Will Wiegand is continuing to make a name for himself belting his second home run of the season in just 13 at bats. He ended the game with two hits, four RBI's, a run and a walk. Drew Hosterman and Cooper Letson both went 3-for-4, scoring three and two runs respectively.

Mason Golabek had a standout game of his own, blasting a home run and driving in three runs while scoring twice. Golabek also started on the mound for the Skippers throwing 3.2 innings allowing no earned runs while striking out three.

Drew McCartney threw two innings out of the pen and picked up the win, allowing just one hit to go along with two strikeouts.

The Skippers will be back in action on their home field for a conference showdown with Henry Ford College on Thursday, March 26. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
