PORT HURON, MI. — In just their second season, the St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men's soccer team made history Wednesday night, defeating Schoolcraft College 2-0 to capture their first-ever Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference championship.
The win also secures the Skippers the #1 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 12 Tournament being hosted by SC4.
Sophomore forward Luis Carlos Farinas led the charge with both goals for SC4, showcasing his scoring prowess in a high-stakes matchup. Assists came from Javier Garcia Tunon Perez and Matteo Mignano, who each played a key role in setting up Farinas' finishes.
With the victory, SC4 will play in the Region 12 semifinals at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 1. The tournament will be hosted at the SC4 Soccer field located at Morton Park in Marysville, MI. Men's and women's semifinal games will be played all day Saturday with the championship games being played at noon and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
