SC4 Men’s Soccer Caps Historic Season with Championships, Awards, and National Tournament Appearance

Port Huron, Mich. —  The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men's soccer team wrapped up a record-breaking 2025 season that will be remembered for years to come. In just its second year as a program, the Skippers captured their first-ever Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Championship and went on to win the NJCAA Region 12 title and NJCAA Northeast District Championship, earning a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Championship.

SC4 finished the season with an impressive overall record of 15-5-1, including a perfect 7-0-0 mark in conference play. The team climbed as high as No. 19 in the NJCAA national rankings, showcasing its rapid rise on the national stage.

Championship Moments

  • MCCAA Championship: SC4 clinched the conference crown with a 2-0 victory over Schoolcraft College on October 22.
  • Region 12 Championship: The Skippers defeated Schoolcraft again in dramatic fashion, 1-0, on a late goal by Gabriele Catterina, who was named Region 12 Tournament MVP.
  • NJCAA Northeast District Championship: The Skippers sailed past #2 Mercer County CC in penalty kicks after keeper Matias Rideau stopped 3 of 4 shots.

National Championship Journey

SC4 advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Wichita, Kansas, where they competed against the nation's best. While the Skippers battled hard, their remarkable run ended in pool play, marking a milestone achievement for the young program.

Individual Honors

The Skippers dominated postseason awards:

Head Coach Brian Alumbaugh earned Region 12 Coach of the Year, MCCAA Coach of the Year, and NJCAA Northeast District Coach of the Year, cementing his role in building a championship-caliber program in record time.

"This is a special group of student-athletes," said Coach Alumbaugh. "Their commitment and resilience have set a new standard for SC4 soccer."
