ALLENDALE, MI. — The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men's track team posted a series of strong early-season performances on Saturday at the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open, highlighted by multiple personal-best marks and competitive finishes across sprint, distance, and hurdle events.
Freshman Dion Edwards opened the day with an impressive showing in the 60-meter high hurdles, clocking a 9.69 to lead the Skippers in the event.
Sprinter Donte Fenderson continued his standout indoor season with a pair of top performances. Fenderson recorded a 7.21 in the 60 meters before returning to run a 23.27 in the 200 meters, showcasing his versatility and consistency in short sprints.
In mid-distance action, Korbyn Thornton delivered one of the day's strongest results for SC4, posting a season-best 2:00.15 in the 800 meters. His performance placed him among the top NJCAA competitors at the meet and sets a promising tone heading into the heart of the indoor schedule.
Rounding out the distance efforts, Dylan Schumann turned in a determined run in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 16:57.89 in a deep and competitive field.
The Skippers continue to build momentum as they progress through the indoor season, with athletes posting improved marks week after week.
