Flint, MI. — The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) Skippers men's basketball team earned a decisive postseason victory Thursday night, defeating Edison State 64–63 in a thrilling NJCAA Great Lakes District B Semifinal at Mott Community College. The win propels the Skippers into the District B Championship Game, where they will face Mid-Michigan College on Saturday at 4 p.m., again at Mott CC. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament in Danville, Illinois.
SC4 used a balanced scoring attack and timely defense to secure the semifinal win.
- Kevin Tiggs led all scorers with 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds
- De'Andre Terrell added 13 points and 7 rebounds
- Chris McLavish scored 10 while also dishing out 5 assists
- Off the bench, Tyler Dorsey contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds
The Skippers held Edison State to 36.5% shooting from the field and just 28.6% from three, tightening defensively in key moments of the second half. SC4 forced Edison State into tough looks down the stretch and protected a narrow lead in the final minutes to clinch the victory.
The Skippers now turn their attention to Mid-Michigan College, with a trip to nationals on the line. SC4 and Mid-Michigan have built a competitive rivalry over recent seasons, setting the stage for an intense championship battle.
