PORT HURON, MI – St. Clair County Community College freshman forward Kyrieona Carter has been named NJCAA National Player of the Week, earning national recognition after her record-setting performance that continues to fuel a strong stretch for the Skippers.
Carter delivered one of the greatest single-game efforts in program history last week at the SC4 Fieldhouse, erupting for 46 points on 21-of-29 shooting while adding 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. The breakout performance ties the highest-scoring game in SC4 women's basketball history, previously held by Melissa Treppa during the 2002 season against Alpena Community College.
SC4 has extended its hot streak with commanding road victories over Jackson and Macomb Community Colleges, improving to 13-6 overall and remaining undefeated in MCCAA Eastern Conference play.
The Skippers return to action on their home court this Saturday at 1:00 PM, hosting Wayne County Community College in another key conference matchup as they look to extend their unbeaten run.
Carter also earned MCCAA Player of the Week honors, adding conference recognition to her national award.
