Skippers Top Mott CC on the Road, 79–63, Behind Balanced Scoring Effort

FLINT, Mich. — The St. Clair County Community College women's basketball team earned an impressive road victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Mott Community College 79–63 at Steve Schmidt Gymnasium.

The Skippers (10‑6, 1‑0 MCCAA Eastern Conference) used a strong second and third quarter to take control of the game and never looked back. After leading 22–13 at the end of the first, SC4 outscored Mott CC again in the second quarter 20-14 to build a 42-27 halftime lead.

SC4 shot efficiently throughout the contest, finishing 43.5 percent from the field and converting 9 of 11 free throws. The Skippers also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Bears 51–39.

Four Skippers reached double figures, led by Kyrieona Carter, who poured in a team‑high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting while adding 16 rebounds. Taylor Wallace provided a strong all‑around performance with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, while Myana Cooksey added 15 points, five rebounds, and 5 assists.

Defensively, SC4 held the Bears to 33.3 percent shooting from the field. The Skippers also came up with five steals and two blocks, helping maintain momentum throughout the afternoon.

The Skippers will continue conference play this week as they host Oakland Community College on Wednesday, January 14 at 5:30 p.m.
