PORT HURON, MI. — The St. Clair County Community College women's basketball team continued its strong postseason run Tuesday night, defeating Wayne County Community College 70–46 in the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Quarterfinal at the SC4 Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Skippers (now 22–8) advance to the District B Semifinal, where they will face Lakeland Community College. The semifinal will be played on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Mott Community College.
SC4 put together a balanced, high-energy performance on both ends of the court out-rebounding the Wildcats 62–38 while 4 Skippers scored in double figures.
- Taylor Wallace led all scorers with 18 points while also coming away with 5 rebounds off the bench.
- Kyrieona Carter added 12 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks to the Skippers' efforts.
- Iliana Williams scored 11 points to go with 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
- Myana Cooksey also scored 11 while hauling in 6 rebounds.
SC4's defensive intensity set the tone early, limiting Wayne County to 4-of-17 shooting in the opening quarter. The Skippers maintained control throughout, winning each of the final three quarters and shooting 33% from the field overall.
The victory marks another step forward for an SC4 squad that has surged late in the season and now turns its attention to a challenging semifinal matchup.
