Port Huron, MI — The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) women's basketball team opened the 2025 Skippers Holiday Classic with a hard-fought win over Lakeland Community College.
The Skippers jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Lakeland 23-15 in the first quarter and maintaining control through halftime with a 42-30 advantage. Lakeland rallied in the second half, but SC4's clutch free-throw shooting and defensive stops secured the 68-62 victory.
Iliana Williams led SC4 with 19 points and an impressive 19 rebounds, shooting 8-of-15 from the field. Soleil DeJesus added 17 points along with 2 steals to contribute on both ends of the court. Taylor Wallace was good for 9 points and 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while Kyleriona Carter chipped in 8 points and 14 boards.
The will take on Cuyahoga CC in day 2 of the classic tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
