Dearborn, MI. — The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) women's basketball team put together a dominant wire-to-wire performance Tuesday night, defeating Henry Ford College 112–59 on the road.
The Skippers set the tone early, jumping out to a 27–12 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. SC4 continued to build its advantage with a balanced offensive attack and relentless defensive pressure, extending the lead to 56–22 at halftime before outscoring Henry Ford 56–27 over the final two quarters.
The Skippers shot an impressive 56.6 percent from the field for the game and knocked down 40.0 percent of their three-point attempts. They also capitalized at the free-throw line, finishing 15-of-20 (75.0 percent).
Six Skippers scored double figures:
- Kyrieona Carter led all scorers with 26 points while also pulling down 5 rebounds.
- Sylver Bowles added in 19 points, going 4-for-4 from behind the arc and dishing out 3 assists.
- Iliana Williams made an impact in her first game back, dropping 16 points and grabbing 7 rebounds off the bench.
- Taylor Wallace contributed 13 points to the Skipper's cause.
- Emma James had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds
- Soleil DeJesus had an all-around day, scoring 10 to go along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.
SC4 showcased its depth as 9 different players found the scoring column, with the bench providing steady energy throughout the contest.
Defensively, the Skippers forced 20 turnovers and held Henry Ford to 31.3 percent shooting from the field. Henry Ford was led by Kendall Kelsey, who scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Skippers are back in action at the SC4 Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 31 when they host Schoolcraft College in a battle for first place in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. The game tips off at 1:00 PM.
