SC4 Women’s Basketball Pulls Away Late for Road Win at Macomb CC

Detroit, MI. — The St. Clair County Community College women's basketball team earned an impressive 86–67 road victory over Macomb Community College on Wednesday night, pulling away with a strong second-half performance.

After a tightly contested first half, the Skippers began to create separation in the third quarter, outscoring the Monarchs 27–20, and then closed the game with a dominant fourth quarter to secure the 19-point win.

SC4 shot an efficient 46.9 percent from the floor for the game and connected on 5-of-14 from three-point range (35.7%), while also converting 21-of-32 from the free-throw line. The Skippers' balanced offense and defensive pressure proved to be the difference, as they forced turnovers and limited Macomb's perimeter scoring opportunities.

Myana Cooksey led all scorers with 25 points, attacking the basket consistently and finishing strong at the free-throw line. Sylver Bowles and Soleil DeJesus followed both scoring 14 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Kyrieona Carter added 11.

Defensively, SC4 held Macomb to 38.2 percent shooting and just 12.5 percent from beyond the arc, limiting the Monarchs to two made three-pointers on the night. The Skippers also controlled key stretches of the game with strong rebounding and timely defensive stops.

SC4 outscored Macomb in each of the final two quarters and consistently executed down the stretch to close out the road win.

The victory moves the Skippers to 13-6 on the season and a perfect 4-0 start to MCCAA Eastern Conference play.

They're back in action this Saturday as part of a double header when Wayne County CCD comes to town. The women will tip at 1:00 PM and the men at 3:00 PM.
